Annual Tuition Increase - 2022/2023
Hello Compass Parents,
Over the last year it has not been a surprise to you that, as a company, we have had to make several shifts in sincere efforts to retain our amazing staff and obtain new staff. Because of our growth, Compass has been able to roll out new opportunities and benefits that we have long dreamed of. One of the reasons Ginger and myself started a daycare center (that grew to 5 centers) was to help impact the early childhood education field. Part of that is bringing a level of respect and professionalism to the field that is sometimes overlooked.
From the start we have wanted to be a leader in the industry for our educators in creating a place where they could truly have a career path if wanted. Well, nearly 5 years ago we started Compass with 6 students and had to start our goals and dreams off a little smaller than we liked. Pursuing training, consultants and coaching to begin with. Now in a very different place, we have been able to make some big changes! We now offer our staff benefits that include 401K, health insurance, and free mental health care. As well as increasing pay, and adding a bonus program. We are very excited to offer this to our staff and want to reclaim low staff turnover. Ginger and myself still have bigger and better dreams and things in the works but we wanted to take a moment to celebrate with you how we are caring for the people that care for your children.
In order to roll things out over the last year we have made shifts and plans to support these opportunities financially. But supply costs, rent and other overhead costs have all gone up over the past few months with an increase well above typical increases we budget for. I know that anyone who has purchased... anything... knows what I'm talking about. In order to accommodate the overhead increases and uphold our benefits and staff payroll, our September rate increase will be above the rate increases in the past.
Please know that this has been a decision that was not taken lightly. We heavily weigh out what this impact could look like for your family. But this increase will allow us to ensure our staff are being taken care of while meeting the rising demands of our vendors. Keeping our tuition rates as low as we can while still paying our staff a livable wage (and more) is a priority of ours. We will continue to pursue excellence on behalf of your children and appreciate the opportunity to do that. It is an honor to care for your child and support their journey to kindergarten. You can find these updated rates posted on your child's Kangarootime account or physical copies will be available in the lobby. The increase will appear on your invoice due August 24th, for care the following week August 29th.
